Winchester 1894 Military Carbine .30 WCF

Sold

Maker: Winchester Model: 1894

SN 745380 Built 1914, 30WCF This gun was a part of a very small contract sale to The English Royal Navy at the time of WWI. DCP (Dominion Canada Proof) were placed on the guns at the New Haven plant and sent to Canada for delivery. This shipment took place in 1915 together with thousands of 92 Carbines. At a later date, these guns were marked with the British broad arrow on the barrel and same on the butt. They were on sale with the surplus arrow stamping. Excellent original blue on barrel and tube. Cleaned receiver which may have been done by the Royal Navy to remove some obvious corrosion associated with their usage. The receiver could be improved with some tender effort. A scarce military carbine. The stock is the original gum wood of the period. Very clear and original military surplus stamps. These guns are slightly unusual for the fact they did not receive the normal British proofing which probably didn't occur due to wartime expediency. Reference to this is contained in the book "Defending the Dominion" By David Edgecombe. FFL or C&R required.
