Somewhat more than 4000 Woodsman Match Target pistols were delivered to the U.S. Govt. on contract for training purposes from 1942-1944. These were all Match Target models with extended reddish color plastic stocks and most, but not all, with serial nos. above MT 12000. Barrel lengths were the standard 6 5/8". The crossed cannon ordnance mark is stamped on the left frame with initials G.H.D. for major Guy H. Drury who was the Colt inhouse factory inspector. Condition is 95% blue with some small areas of light pitting on the left side. Other than the plastic stocks and govt markings, these pistols showed no difference from the commercial ones. This one has no Colt markings at bottom of the magazine. This pistol is one of a batch of 300 shipped to the US navy at Norfolk, VA in 1943. A scarce Colt and US military pistol which shows normal service usage buts till rates excellent. FFL or C&R
